In this section you will find "late-breaking" information related to the book, such as corrections reported by readers or additional suggestions about the activities.
1. Here's a safety concern that occurred to me after the book was at the printers when I was framing a photo for a friend. If you try to "Paper from Paper" activity on pages 112-113 and use a mold and deckle made from inexpensive wooden frames, be sure to get the assistance of an adult in removing the glass from the frame and storing it in a safe place. The glass in these inexpensive frames tends to have very sharp edges.
2. Here's an additional idea for the activity "How still can you be?" on page 78, especially for the younger readers. Trying to stay still can be kind of a game. You and your friends can enlist an adult to be judge and then simply stand there being completely still. Last person who doesn't move is the winner. How long can you resist that itchy nose that's sure to be there as soon as you try to stay still?! Thanks to Guy Nicholls for this idea.
3. I made a stilly mistake in the Personal Map Activity on pages 138 and 139. I said that there were 2580 feet in a mile. The correct number is 5280 feet. Then the correct scale will come out to 1:8617 instead of 1:4225. The map distances are still correct since the incorrect value of 2580 is used twice in the calculations and the mistakes cancel each other out. Thanks to Vilko Green for pointing this out.
